WRITE FOR YOUR AUDIENCE

Write blogs geared toward your consumers. The people who read the material on your website are your future clients! Speak to your blog audience using your brand’s tone of voice. Talk to your ideal client and provide information just like you do with someone sitting in your office.

Your business blog is a great place to provide insight into new industry trends, shifts in the consumer experience, or future expectations to someone who uses services like yours.

PLAN YOUR CONTENT AND COLLECT INSPIRATION

Do not wait until the last minute to slap together a blog. Collect inspiration during your week and keep a list of potential blog topics.

I suggest writing a few blogs at a time, if possible. Save an extra blog as a draft so you won’t fall behind on your blog posting schedule if you get busy.

Here is my blog writing process:

-When writing a blog post, I choose my topic in advance.

-I write down my topic and blog title in a Word document.

-Then, I spend time throughout the next few days gathering inspiration from my workplace or the world around me as it relates to my blog topic.

-I also create headings within my blog post to outline what bullet points I want to cover.

-When it comes time to write the blog, I use my headings/outline as a map of what I need to cover in the blog. I write as if speaking to my audience and add links to valuable and reputable content.

-I then edit my title, if needed, and write my intro paragraph.

-I do a final edit, check my blog for grammar and spelling, and then perform a final proofread.

-When I am happy with my copywriting, Il focus on the formatting and presentation of my blog. I add stock photos or original photos from my client.

-I enhance my blog for SEO throughout my process. While formatting, I add metatags before finally publishing or scheduling my content.

ANSWER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS IN A THOUGHTFUL BLOG POST

One way to keep your current customers happy and produce engaging and high-ranking blog content is to answer a frequently asked question. If three customers ask you the same thing in a workweek, it’s safe to say the answer to that question could become a popular topic for your business blog.

Produce a blog post that thoughtfully answers your consumers' FAQ. Include original photos or infographics in your blog post, if possible. This demonstrates that you know the answer to the question and have expert knowledge of the topic. It also shows you’re patient and knowledgeable enough to walk your client through the process.

KNOW YOUR KEYWORDS

Keywords are searchable phrases or strings of characters that users may enter into a search engine. Each business niche has optimal keywords that can enhance search enging ranking.

Choosing and utilizing the right keywords, or keyword phrases can help connect targeted users with your business blog or website. Using the optimal keyword or phrase can also help you rank higher on the Google search page when a user searches for the specific keyword or phrase that you have strategically incorporated into your blog writing.

You can use a tool, like the ones on SemRush.com or Ahrefs.com, to research keyword phrases and find the best ones to incorporate into your copywriting. You have a better shot at ranking in Google with some keywords, or keyword phrases than with others. These tools will show you how difficult it is to rank with the keyword phrase you are researching. SemRush and Ahrefs also offer related suggestions for similar keyword phrases that, when utilized correctly, may give you a better shot at ranking high on the Google search page.

ADD INFOGRAPHICS, CHARTS, STOCK IMAGES, AND ORIGINAL ASSETS FOR VISUAL INTEREST

Infographics and charts are the perfect way to pack a punch and present dense information in a condensed, easy to understand format. Adding stock images, charts, and original photos or videos can also help break up the information on the page so your reader doesn’t lose interest. Keep in mind that our brains process visual information 60,000 times faster than text, so providing visual cues is an excellent way to present information and keep you and your reader on the same page, so to speak. Keep in mind, you also rank higher in the Google algorhitm if users stay on your pages longer.

Choose high-quality photographs and videos over grainy and low-quality photos. If you don’t have any original high-quality images, you can choose pertinent graphics from a stock photo website like Shutterstock, or one of the many others available online.
